Northeast Detector Dog Services is owned and operated by Michael Kaspereen.

Mike is a retired Maine State Police Sergeant with 25 years law enforcement experience, and 21 years’ experience in handling, training and supervising police canine teams.  As the head of the State Police canine unit he managed, supervised and trained individual canine teams from across the State.

Mike has trained hundreds of dogs and handlers, including patrol, tracking, narcotics, evidence recovery, explosives, cadaver and accelerant (arson) disciplines.

Mike was instrumental in establishing a state-wide K9 advisory board, under the authority of the Maine Criminal Justice Academy, which brought all Maine certified teams together under the same training and certification guidelines. The result was a credible, across the board training standard that can serve as a model for other states.

As a member of the New England State Police Administrators Conference (N.E.S.P.A.C.), Mike served for ten years on that organization's canine trainer advisory board, helping to draft changes and recommendations for canine training. N.E.S.P.A.C. canine training standards are followed by all six of the New England State Police K9 units.

Mike is also busy training accelerant detection dogs and training and working bedbug and explosive detection dogs.
